Private Tours by Carriage in Historic Charleston, South Carolina For those who wish to tour the city in a private carriage, our elegant vis-a-vis carriages offer small groups the wonderful opportunity to see the city in a more intimate setting with their own personal tour guide.

During the one-hour tour, you will:

Experience 25-30 blocks of Charleston's historic downtown district
See houses, gardens, mansions, churches, and parks
Learn about buildings, history, architecture, flora and the people that make up the "Holy City"
Learn everything that Charleston has to offer the visitor on a Palmetto Carriage tour

Palmetto Carriage Works is the exclusive provider of carriages to Charleston Place Hotel and the Mills House Hotel.

These carriages accommodate up to four people and should be reserved ahead of time. We can accommodate private groups between five and eight people on our wagonette style carriages.

If you would like to customize your tour, arrangements can be made for downtown pick-ups and drop-offs. Also groups larger than 8 should check our large group and custom tour options.
